Vyra is the best beat sync editor in 2026 if you want control over the rhythm. You say how the cuts should follow the song, it picks the clips and lands them on the beats, and then you can keep changing it by asking. CapCut is second, and it is the fastest for a one-tap edit on a trending sound. Canva is third if you already make your graphics there.

Most of my videos are compilations. Lots of two-second clips, one theme, text on top. My compilation videos are at 724k views combined, so I have spent a lot of nights lining clips up with a song by hand. This list is the tools I would actually point a friend to, and what each one is good and bad at.

We make Vyra, so weigh our spot with that in mind. Here is why it is first. Every other tool on this list either picks the rhythm for you or leaves you placing clips on beat markers. In Vyra you describe the rhythm in a sentence, and the edit stays editable after. "Slower in the verse." "Swap the third clip." "Now add captions and a title." If you just want a trend edit in under a minute, CapCut is still faster.

The list

  1. Vyra. Best overall, and best when you want to describe the sync. Vyra reads the track's BPM, beat positions, and onsets, and it has already watched every clip. So you can say "one clip per beat in the chorus, one every two beats in the verse, put the faces on the big hits" and it builds that. After that the agent keeps going. You can change one cut without redoing the rest, retime a section, or add captions, motion graphics, and a title in the same chat. You can also do it from Claude or ChatGPT. The catch is you type a sentence or two instead of tapping a template, and we don't have a licensed music library, so you bring your own track.

  2. CapCut. Best for speed on a trending sound. Auto Cut trims and syncs your clips to the beats of the music, on mobile and desktop. It is not on CapCut Web. You can also mark beats on the timeline and snap clips to them yourself. The catch is that the template or the auto cut decides the rhythm. If you want something different in the chorus, you are back to dragging clips.

  3. Canva. Best if you already live in Canva. Click the audio waveform and pick Beat Sync. On the free plan you get beat markers to snap clips to. On Pro, Sync Now re-times all your clips to the beat at once. It only syncs to music, not to someone talking.

  4. Filmora. Best one-click option on a desktop timeline. Auto Beat Sync is under Tools, or you right-click your media and pick it. It cuts your footage to the song you choose. Remove the original audio from your clips first or it gets messy. You still pick and order the clips.

  5. Adobe Premiere Pro. Best if you already edit in Premiere and want full control. You mark the beats and place the cuts yourself, or use a plugin. Precise, and slow.

  6. DaVinci Resolve. Best free option for doing it by hand. The waveform and markers make manual beat cutting very precise. There is no one-click beat sync, so a 30-second montage is still every cut by you.

Cut these clips to the attached song. One clip per beat in the chorus, one every two beats in the verses. Start on the first downbeat, put the shots with faces on the strongest hits, and hold the last shot for one second after the final beat.

FAQ

What is beat sync in video editing? Beat sync means your cuts land on the beats of the song instead of at random spots. Most tools find the beats for you. The difference is whether they also place the clips, and whether you get a say in which clip goes where.

Where is CapCut's beat sync? Auto Cut is in the CapCut app on mobile and desktop. It is not on CapCut Web. CapCut's help page says it needs a recent version, so update the app if you don't see it.

Does beat sync work with any song? It works best on music with a clear beat, like pop, hip hop, and EDM. Slow or ambient tracks have softer beats, so you usually have to say where the cuts go. More on that in does beat sync work for every genre.

Can I beat sync on my phone? CapCut and Canva both work on a phone. Vyra has an iOS app, so you can send clips from your camera roll and ask for the edit.
