DaVinci Resolve is the best free professional editor and the standard for color. Vyra is better if you would rather describe the edit than learn Resolve.

Resolve is a full post-production suite. Edit, color, Fairlight audio, Fusion effects. The free version is very complete. Its AI features (transcript editing, smart reframe, voice isolation) help a trained operator. Vyra assumes you are not one. An AI, or your own Claude or ChatGPT, does the assembly from a plain request.

Where Resolve is stronger
- Color. Nothing in a browser comes close to the color page.
- The free tier has most of the professional features.
- Fusion and Fairlight go deeper on effects and audio than Vyra tries to.
Where Vyra is stronger
- Time to first cut. No node trees, no media pools, no proxies to set up. Describe, review, adjust.
- Footage search. "Find every shot of the canvas from above" works because every scene is described on upload.
- Graphics and reference matching without learning Fusion.
Choose Vyra if
- You post short-form weekly and want the assembly done for you.
- You do not want to learn Resolve's page-based workflow.
- You want to use an AI you already pay for.
Choose Resolve if
- Color grading is central to your look.

Can Vyra color grade? It can apply looks through effects and match a reference video's grade. It does not have a color page like Resolve.
Can I finish a Vyra edit in Resolve? Yes. Export from Vyra and bring the file into Resolve for grading.
Which is easier for a beginner? Vyra. Most people export a first video within minutes. Resolve takes weeks to learn.
