Art timelapse video: how to shoot, edit, and prompt it
An art timelapse is a locked-off recording of a piece being made, played at one steady high speed with no cuts.

Structure
- 0-2s: blank surface, first mark
- 2-40s: the whole session at one speed
- 40-45s: last strokes, same speed
- 45-50s: still of the finished piece
How to shoot it
- Clamp the phone above or beside the surface. Tape the clamp.
- Lock focus and exposure before you start.
- When you pause to think, pull your hand out of frame.
- Constant light or it'll flicker.
- Use timelapse mode for sessions over 2 hours. Otherwise record normally and speed it up after.
How to edit it
- One speed. Pick whatever lands at 40-50 seconds.
- Trim only the start and the end.
- Don't cut the middle.
- One still of the finished piece, 3-5 seconds, clean light.
- One title in the first 2 seconds if you want.
- Music that loops.
Prompt it in Vyra

FAQ
What speed? Whatever lands the session at about 40 seconds. An hour is roughly 90x. A 20-minute sketch is roughly 30x.
Timelapse or speed paint? Timelapse is one steady speed, no cuts. Speed paint cuts, ramps, and slows on the good parts. Timelapse is easier. Speed paint is more watchable.
