Speed paint video: how to shoot, edit, and prompt it
A speed paint is a whole painting session sped up to 20 to 60 seconds, so you watch a blank surface turn into the finished piece.

Structure
- 0-1s: finished piece, one frame
- 1-4s: blank surface, first strokes fast
- 4-30s: block-in and mid layers, steady fast
- 30-40s: one slowdown on a detail, then fast again
- 40-50s: final details, slowing down
- 50-60s: reveal, held, title or signature
How to shoot it
- Tripod or overhead arm. Don't touch it until you're done.
- Frame the whole surface plus a hand's width of margin.
- One constant light. Daylight over four hours flickers when sped up.
- Record in one clip if storage allows.
- Keep your head and shoulders out of frame.
- Film the finished piece separately in clean light.
How to edit it
- Speed the session to land at 40-50 seconds before the reveal.
- Pick 2 or 3 strokes and drop those to real time for a second each.
- Cut the dead stretches (mixing, stepping back) instead of speeding through them.
- Reveal on the drop or the last hit.
- One title in the first 2 seconds.
- Last 4 seconds still. That's where the saves happen.
Prompt it in Vyra
