POV video: how to shoot, edit, and prompt it

A POV video puts the camera where the viewer would be, so you talk to the lens like it's them, with a "POV:" caption setting the scene.

Structure

0-1s: POV text on frame
1-15s: the scene, talking to the lens

How to shoot it

Phone at the viewer's eye height. Seated viewer means seated height.
Talk to the lens, never off to the side.
For first person, hold the phone at chest height so your hands come in from the bottom.
Real background. The actual office, the actual kitchen.
Record the room sound.

How to edit it

POV text top center, first frame.
As few cuts as possible.
If you cut, cut on a blink or a head turn.
Keep the real audio. One sound effect on the twist, max.
End the moment the reaction lands.

Prompt it in Vyra

Make a 15-second POV video with the text "POV: you're the new hire and it's your first standup" at the top the whole time. Use the take where I look at the camera and ask "so what did you work on yesterday", cut once to the take where I wait awkwardly, and end there. Keep the room audio.

Add small captions only for the spoken line, low so they don't cover the POV text.

FAQ

Does it have to start with "POV:"? It's the convention and people read it instantly. Drop it only if the scene is obvious.

Speech captions or not? If the line is the joke, caption it small and low. If your face is the joke, leave it clean.
